Ryan Wichman
I’m Ryan Wichman, in May 2009 I graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Meteorology. Now I live in Quincy, Illinois and work at WGEM as a weekend meteorologist/weekday reporter. Just like almost everyone else who is interested in weather, my aspirations started at a young age. I always wanted to be the weather man on TV. I love big snow storms, severe weather, anything extreme about the weather. But growing up in Ohio there were never many severe storms to get a hold of, so I never really chased.
During my time as Western Illinois, I started to learn what REAL storms were and I wanted to do more than sit in a classroom and study them. In April of 2008 I went on my first chase….a whole 50 miles round trip. But I was hooked. In 2009, chasing took me to Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas. In the coming years I hope to add hurricanes, blizzards and even more tornadoes to my resume.
