It is no news now that a series of strong and deadly twisters have struck parts of Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky. At the time of this post the storms are still marching east through parts of Tennessee and Alabama as well. One tornado that struck Harrisburg, Illinois has been preliminary rated an EF-4 with at least 6 fatalities alone. Another tornado did heavy damage in Branson, Missouri killing at least 1.
It is time to prepare yourselves for the upcoming severe weather season. Another significant outbreak is set to take shape on Friday, for many areas that were just hit. The current pattern is to remain active. Now is the time to make sure your weather radios have batteries and are operational. Make a bookmark of important internet sites to receive weather information such as your local NWS and media sites. As a last resort you can always turn to social media. We here at Convective Addiction try to post frequent, significant updates during severe weather outbreaks but please, have more than one source readily available.
