I finally got around to editing, rendering, and uploading full 1080p videos(you’ll have to go to the youtube site itself to view them in 1080p) of the Wakita, Oklahoma tornado event to youtube.
Part 1 takes you from the first signs that we finally had a strong low-level mesocyclone developing, through the fantastic multiple vortex tornado which danced so gracefully over the road for us. There is even a cameo by one of the most famous and well respected meteorologists in the nation! Sorry about the shaky video in this first segment, I was trying to hand-hold my main camera while setting up my dash cam…
Part 2 picks up just after the multiple vortex encounter through a huge churning meso, occasional spinups, incredible descending motion on the RFD, and perhaps the largest hail I have ever encountered. Eventually we lose our back windshield and pass the SUV which lost all its windows from an earlier encounter with the tornado. Enjoy!
