3/11/10 – Forecast Follow-Up

Posted on 14. Mar, 2010 by in Uncategorized

Things did not pan out as expected, however, we were still treated to a decent light show and some beautiful structure.  I may post a video of some lightning later on. We didn’t get any rotating storms or tornadoes, but storms did form and produced pea sized hail and abundant lightning. The front set up between 55 and 57 and veered the winds in Western and Central IL. Dry air moved in and lowered the dews, ending the threat across most of the target area. Storms eventually fired on a NW-SE orientated boundary from W Indiana – through Kankakee – through Kendall County – up to Rockford. A line segment formed near Rockford and individual cells along the boundary. They set up right over my house for a couple hours and I was treated to some storms. The first of 2010 ~ Danny
